Welcome to a different kid of anthology...
As members of the North Fork Writers Group on the Eastern End of Long Island, we share a camaraderie that supports us creatively. None of us, though, wanted this to be just another book of stories about quaint lives amid our scenic area's famous beaches and vineyards. Each of us has a distinctly individual Writer's Voice from our widely diverse backgrounds, interests and ages, and we tried to compile as much diversity as possible in these 25 titles. Their settings range from the ancient past to the 21st Century, with some wry or funny, some serious or emotionally moving, but all offer new perspectives to engage your mind. While our different styles and subjects focuses add depth to this anthology, its creative strength grew from the encouragement and insightfully helpful critiques our group provides its authors. We present Seven Voices, Volume One for your enjoyment. Gene ~ Dave ~ Kit ~ Joyce ~ Jean ~ Suzi ~ Teresa Click on the book cover to purchase Seven Voices: Volume One. |
A member of the North Fork Writers Group, David Porteous breaks out with a remarkable collection of short stories. As he says, "The stories are not autobiographical, but while the characters reveal facets of my views, they came to me with personalities and situations formed. They are mind-invaders because their presences prevented me from working on other projects: they refused to leave until I wrote their tales. I chose takes whose characters came in diverse styles of tale-telling, with cultural differences, and some echoing other stories to expand those themes for you. I haven't defined their settings - New York, Sydney, Shanghai or Oslo is irrelevant to people dealing with life's universal issues."
